What’s happening family? Our new live album “Now Ya Know” was just released into the wild and the first review out of the gate comes from Where Y’at Magazine and writer Carolyn Heneghan. Here it is: Flow Tribe Now Ya Know Independent Grappling to capture the sweat, grit and groove of their live shows in the silent boxes of a recording studio, Flow Tribe decided in the meantime to release a live-recorded album. It’s a statement to those who have heard their recordings, but haven’t come out to see what all the funk and fuss is over their live performances: Now Ya Know. Recorded at Tipitina’s on April 4, 2010, the album nails the natural looseness and spontaneity of bridges, solos and crowd interaction that can’t always be heard on studio recordings. Tribe, slated to open for Afro-Cuban and Latin jazz percussionist Bill Summers that evening, were actually joined by Summers on some of the tracks, as well as by Charles Arthur wailing on trombone and by tenor saxophonist Clarence “Trixzey” Slaughter, whose surname adeptly describes his killer presence on the album.
